Christian Blaas

Christian has been active in children’s and youth theatre for many years. Together with Martina Tratter and Gabi Überbacher, he founded the Kinder- und Jugendtheatergruppe Schlern, KiJTS for short, in Kastelruth. There, he leads various theatre groups for children and young people year-round.

For the Pedagogical Department of the German Education Directorate, Christian designed a multi-stage theatre education course, giving over 80 teachers and theatre educators in the region solid foundational training in this field.

Jeux Dramatiques and shadow theatre are disciplines he has explored in depth and offered advanced training courses on. Another focus of his work lies in directing, where it is particularly important to him to involve the actors by drawing on their individual skills, experience, and qualities. Whenever the opportunity arises, he also takes a participatory approach to devising plays, incorporating the ensemble’s ideas and input into the creative process.
